Event Details

Let’s be honest - books are sexy, reading is sexy, and talking about reading is even sexier ;) This Valentine’s Day, join us at Head House Books for an evening that will stimulate your brain, your heart, & your sweet tooth.

Snack on aphrodisiacs from our beloved neighbors at Majdal Bakery while perusing our curated selection of books on love and romance: think classics like Brontë & Nin & Baldwin, alongside queer contemporary pageturners by TJ Alexander & Akwaeke Emezi, as well a a handful of thought-provoking nonfiction works by Charlotte Shane, Annie Liontas, and Melissa Febos.

Then, join us for a panel discussing sex and sexuality in American life, past and present, led by Professor Rebecca L. Davis of the University of Delaware (author of Fierce Desires: A New History of Sex and Sexuality in America) and Philadelphia-based sexologist Dr. Timaree.

Afterwards, stick around for a few rounds of Sex Ed Quizzo to see just how much your high school sex ed teacher failed you (spoiler: a lot).

Tickets are $30, with seats available for 40 people.
